Installation
The FrostBlok device comes with everything you should need to be able to install it by yourself! It is recommended that the device is installed in a laundry room, where the device has access to both hot water and drainage. However, the FrostBlok device can be installed anywhere there is hot water, power outlet, and drain access.
The installation consists of 5 steps:
- Splitting the hot water input. Typically, the hot water hose going into the washing machine is a single outlet. The FrostBlok kit comes with a splitter so that hot water can go through the FrostBlok device. To install the splitter, first, turn off the hot water going into the washer. Second, unscrew the current hose and attach it to the splitter. Third, attach the open ends of the splitter back into the washer hose and one end of the FrostBlok device.
- Attach the FrostBlok to power. There should be an outlet close to the dryer, in the outlet not being used by the dryer, plug in the power supply attached to the FrostBlok device. When the blue light turns on it is active.
- Lead the FrostBlok output into a new drain pipe. There should be an open drain hole next to the hot and cold water valves. Using the piping kit provided with the FrostBlok kit, lead a new pipe into the drain hole.
- Turn on FrostBlok. Press the white button on the FrostBlok Device and follow the mobile app instructions for setup.

Auto Defrost
Although it is recommended to consistently use the FrostBlok app and manually control when and how much hot water to push through your drains, there are a few instances in which customers would still prefer to just have FrostBlok automatically run. For example, if one customer manages several different properties each with their own FrostBlok device the amount of notifications and monitoring can be overwhelming. But when possible, it is still recommended to manually control the device to conserve hot water and power.
To set up auto defrost, the user still has to install the app and register the device. The device can then be set to “auto defrost.” You will then need to associate the device with a city so that it can automatically monitor local weather patterns. When local weather patterns reach or are predicted to reach certain temperatures, the FrostBlok device will turn on accordingly.

Mobile App
The FrostBlok app is free and available for download on both Apple and Android devices. Having the FrostBlok app is essential for setting up the device and for continued manual management of the device. The app will ask for your location and for you to set a location for each FrostBlok device. This is so that the app can monitor local weather patterns and automatically start or alert you when to turn on the device.
The app will also request to use Bluetooth when first connecting to a new device. Through setup, you can connect your device to a local WiFi network. This is needed so that you can constantly monitor and control your device even when out of Bluetooth range.
Once a device is connected to your FrostBlok app, you will be able to control the device from anywhere. You can register multiple devices to one app, making it easy to manage and monitor several locations.
